Silicone lube – the best choice for slippery and long-lasting fun
When daydreaming of ways to spice up your love life, did silicone lube ever cross your mind? Probably not. And yet, whether you’re planning a seductive night with your lover, or just looking for a little “me time,” the right lube can make a massive difference to your pleasure levels.
Key features of silicone-based lube
Of course, while everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to pleasure, you may well find that some of these key features of silicone lube suit your needs:
- Exceptionally smooth and slippery, making it comfortable to apply and use, even with larger toys
- Longer-lasting than other lubricants
- Offers excellent lubrication, keeping things fun and friction-free all night
- Thick texture ensures unbeatable “glideability” over both short and long-term use
- Safe to use with condoms, reducing the chance of damage or tears during a night of pleasure
- Great for sex in the shower or the tub as it doesn’t wash off so easily
- Suitable for both vaginal and anal sex
- Enjoyable for penis masturbation sessions
…and if you’re looking to make your latex outfit shiny for your next fetish night? Yep, silicone lube will also help you with that!
Why does silicone lube last longer than other lubricants?
One of the most notable benefits of silicone lube is that it’s incredibly long-lasting. This is due to the lube’s composition (typically silicone polymer dimethicone) that makes it is less susceptible to evaporation. This also means that it is not water-soluble.
As such, whether you’re planning a long and steamy session, or if you simply find that other lubes run short before you’re done, you may want to consider switching to a silicone lube instead.
How to use silicone-based lube
Silicone lube is exceptionally easy to use, making it exceptionally popular both for couples and those looking for some quality alone time. What’s more, a little goes an exceptionally long way – so, when using silicone lube, do so sparingly to get the best results. We do recommend being a little more liberal if going for anal sex, as there’s no natural lubrication down there. Luckily, since silicone lube is so thick and smooth, it’s an ideal choice for anal.
Silicone lube is smooth to apply, and you might just find that the cool temperature itself gets you feeling excited. Silicone lube is also completely safe to use with condoms and can even be a better option for longer sessions since it won’t run dry after a few minutes; this helps ensure that the condom is less likely to tear.
When using silicone lube, our main word of warning is simple: watch out for the upholstery! It’s probably not something you’ll remember in the throes of passion, so make sure you’ve got some towels handy before you get going, as silicone lube can be harder to wash out.

When not to use silicone-based lube
We love silicone lube, but there are a few scenarios when it might not be the ideal choice. The most obvious of these is with silicone-based sex toys. Indeed, over time, silicone sex toys (often the ones designed to provide a realistic feel – check the packaging if you’re not quite sure) can be damaged if exposed to silicone lubes. As such, either reach for a different sex toy – or, if you can’t get enough of that lifelike feel, use a water-based lube instead.
At this point, you may be wondering: if pre-lubricated condoms are coated with silicone lube, should I avoid silicone lube to avoid damaging the condom? Not to worry – since the condoms themselves aren’t made from silicone, silicone lube won’t damage them.
